Manam Rice Transplanter was launched in Tanjore on the 16th May 2008

Central Minister invites farmers to mechanize farming practices to increase yield and profit.

Southern Agro Engine Pvt Limited launched its new product Manam Rice Transplanter in Tanjore on the 16th May 2008.

The chairman of Southern Agro Engine Mr,Dayalan gave his Welcome Address. In this function central Minister Sree.Palani Mannikam introduced the Rice Transplanter and gave his presidential lecture.

He told that we should implement innovative Technologies in agriculture for progress. People used to say that we have to determine our life with our past experience. But the Minister stressed that not only we have to study from past experience but we have to plan according to our future requirement.

He also tolled that since 1996 we are taking much efforts to mechanize agriculture. We don’t introduce farm implements in tamilnadu unlike in northern India. The reason being that earlier in tamilnadu we had number of agriculture farm labours. For the past two years most of the agricultural labours have gone to places like Coimbatore and thirupur for better jobs. Now we have only 50% of the of the labours left for farming operation due to which there is shortage of farm labour.

In this situation, we require equipment like this. He also stressed that doing after sales service is more important than just launching and sales because the machine being new to farmer and if the farmer are not aware of the proper operation and technology they will avoid and ignore using implements like this. So we have to bring in and educate the technology to the farmers.

Unlike the past, now for the past two year, the central and state govts are allocating many funds to agriculture and releasing more subsidies for farmers. Arrangements with banks have also been done to release loans to farmers.

Not only for rice cultivation, but we have to bring in new equipments to for the cultivation of groundnut and sugar cane also.

Central Food Corporation has procured more rice from Andhra Pradesh last year. Due to the late release of irrigation water from river cavers, Tamilnadu was unable to in the first place. But this year due to the sufficient water in the metur dam, there is a chance for Tamilnadu to reach the first spot.

And he finally told that he take immense pleasure in launching of this equipment and he also insisted that this equipment should get popularize among farmers and through this rice cultivation should progress.
